Columbian Half Dollar
Issued for two years in 1892 and 1893, the Columbian Half Dollar commemorated the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus. The coins had one of the largest mintages for an early commemorative at more than 2.5 million across the two years, but can be difficult to find in gem condition and higher. The design by Olin Lewis Warner features a bust of Columbus on the obverse and an image of the Santa Maria with two globes on the reverse.
